Bemudagrass

This grassy weed is often called "wiregrass" and is very noticeable due to its unique texture and aggressive growth through desirable turfgrass.

Bermudagrass Facts:

  • Goes dormant in the winter, but is always present 
  • Warm-season perennial grass
  • Aggressively spreads with both above-ground and underground rooting structures
  • Gray-green-colored leaves are about 1.5" to 6" long. 
  • Can grow up to 24" tall if unmowed
  • Thrives in full sun, high temperatures with little need for moisture
  • Reproduces by seeds and rooting structure
