Black Medic

This peculiar broadleaf weed is often mistaken for Oxalis or Clover, as it emerges in weak lawn areas and along garden bed edges.

Black Medic Facts:

  • Found in the summer
  • Summer annual
  • Low-growing, typically 2" to 3" tall, but spreading out in 12" to 18" patches
  • Three leaflets and often confused with Clover and Oxalis
  • 1/4" yellow clustered flowers forming at end of stems
  • Flowers eventually produce very small, black seedpods
  • Spreads by seeds

    Arich and his partner went above and beyond yesterday applying leafgro and organic soil enhancement to my huge yard. Parts of the front lawn had developed a fungus and I can almost hear my grass and soil letting out a sigh of relief after the application yesterday. They also took care to wash down the walkway and sidewalk too.
